From Flag Day to the Fourth of July, America On Wheels
Celebrates Our Nation's Automotive Heritage
Allentown, PA - Paying tribute to the most important part
of our name "America On Wheels" (AOW) offers a month-long
celebration our nation's history, freedom and automotive
innovation with an eclectic and entertaining mix of events
for the entire family.
The party starts on Flag Day, June 14, with "Lights, Sirens
and Speed - A Display of Vintage Police Cars", continues
on June 20 with the "2nd Annual Road Jamboree" and wraps
up on July 5 with "Freedom Fest" and a day-long musical
celebration hosted and broadcast live by WXLV 90.1 FM."
In addition, AOW's regularly scheduled events include Park-and-Perk*
in the first Saturday of each month and our new Engine Program
for children ages 10-15 from 9:30 a.m. to Noon on July 11
& 18 and August 8th and 15th.
"We hear so much these days about the turmoil in the auto
industry that it's easy to forget how much our country has
benefited from that industry's innovation, leadership and
economic contributions to our society," said AOW Executive
Director Linda Merkel.
"That's what we celebrate at America On Wheels - and for
the next several weeks, we are especially proud to help
commemorate those contributions as we mark our nation's
birthday and mark its heritage," Merkel continued.
"Lights, Sirens and Speed" will feature a terrific collection
of pre-1990 marked police cars from all over the country.
On Sunday, June 14, the vehicles will roll into Allentown
and the AOW parking lot in an impressive convoy sure to
astound the awaiting audience. The event runs from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m.
The "Road Jamboree" will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
on Saturday, June 20 and feature a wide variety of vehicles,
live music, food vendors and fun. The outdoor exhibit is
free and admission to the museum will be reduced from $7
to $5 for the day.
"Freedom Fest" with WXLV will be held on Sunday, July 5
as part of a weekend-long Independence Day celebration.
The music starts at noon and runs through 5 p.m. and acts
and locations include:

Easily accessible to a half-dozen other renowned cultural
institutions in Allentown, AOW celebrates our nation's love
affair with motorized and non-motorized over-the-road transportation
and its permanent exhibits range from the Nadig - one of
America's first automobiles, produced in Allentown - to
the massive Mack Trucks that helped America become the most
powerful nation in the world.
AOW also offers hands-on playtime exhibits and learning
centers for the children and a souvenir shop for race fans
and anyone with an affinity for our automotive legacy.

Ticket prices, which include admission to the Community
Program, are $7 for adults, $5 for senior citizens; $3.50
for children ages 6 to 16. Children 5 and under are free.
*Because of the Independence Day Holiday, Park and Perk
will resume on the first Saturday in August.
