"Toys for Tots" Campaign Rolls Into America On Wheels
for 2009 Holiday Season
Marines, Model Trains and New 'Concept Cars' Highlight
Exhibit
Allentown, PA - The 2009 "Toys for Tots" campaign conducted
annually by the U. S. Marine Corps rolls into the America
On Wheels (AOW) museum on Friday, accompanied by a working
model train exhibit and a full calendar of special holiday
events for visitors and toy donors.
The Train Time model trains will wind their way through
the various exhibit rooms in the museum and engineers will
operate the trains during special, extended hours throughout
the holiday season. In addition, the first vehicles in AOW's
"Concept Cars" revolving exhibit will be on display.
"We are proud to be a part of this great, annual tradition
and to be able to support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves
Toys For Tots, the Second Harvest food drive and the Be
An Angel campaign. It's been a pleasure working with the
local coordinator from Jack's Glass and all of the organizations,
individuals and community and elected leaders who have come
together to make this drive a success," said Linda Merkel,
executive director of America On Wheels."
"This year's Train Time exhibit will feature 12 displays
ranging from N to G scale models and the platforms are being
custom-built to fit the space allotted by the museum. This
is the same Train Time exhibit that has anchored the Toys
for Tots headquarters for much of the past 10 years," said
Donna Braden of Jack's Glass, who is coordinating the exhibit.
