"Rhythm is in all of us. It doesn't matter who you are
or where you're from, all you need is the right inspiration
to find it."
Car Tunes
With the recent emphasis and heightened awareness
on the greening of the Lehigh Valley, it's nice to
hear that not only is recycling good for the environment,
it can be…musical? Yes, that's right! Connie McDowell
and volunteer Dennis Smith demonstrated the making
of musical instruments from real car parts such as
hubcaps and steering wheels. The program introduces
the concept to children by showing a video from You
Tube of a real orchestra where all the instruments
are made from car parts. Then kids get to make the
instruments, and play them. AOW first featured Car
Tunes in November at the DaVinci Center, and it was
a great hit.

So look for a repeat of the program this summer
at AOW during Kid's Day on Tuesday, July 20th,
and again, Tuesday, August 17th. Car Tunes will
be featured from 11:00am - 12 noon. Kids up to
12 come free to the museum, and other activities
will be offered from 10 - 3 pm. Check out the

AOW and Pinebrook Team Up Again!
The museum is pleased to welcome Pinebrook Services
for Children for a program beginning on Wednesdays
July 7 and running through August 18. Each session
will begin with a special presentation, followed
by a program teaching kids about Fuel Cell Cars.
Presenters include Gary Minnich and his program
"Hub cap art"; Triple A Association with "How
to read a map,"; Bob Swaim and his wildly diverse
collection of bicycles; and a Soapbox Derby Day.
At the end of the summer, there will be a graduation
ceremony for all participants. |
