It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.
Community Spirit is in the air in downtown Allentown and along the Lehigh Landing Riverfront as our beautiful City receives a wonderful facelift. Allentown, the third-largest and fastest growing city in PA is moving forward with so many wonderful opportunities. It hasn’t been easy being the ‘first settler’ along the riverfront, however, America On Wheels is thrilled to soon have neighbors…Ruckus Brewing Co. along the Riverfront, who will begin renovations of the Neuweiler property this fall and just up the street the new PPL Center which will house the Lehigh Valley Phantoms Hockey team along with Allentown’s first new hotel in nearly thirty years and the city’s first modern apartment complex in half a century. A new sports performance center, restaurants and a new headquarters for National Penn Bank!! We look forward to raising a glass to all our new neighbors! We believe the City is turning back into a City where you can live and work within many cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
America On Wheels is proud to announce that we have received a $500,000 contribution in the form of a “challenge to match” grant. Obviously, we have an amazing opportunity but we need to match this contribution by December 30, 2013. As you may consider, this is not an easy task, but we are working diligently to achieve it! America On Wheels provides adults and youth with an outstanding museum experience, encompassing the 3E’s:
Education ~ Entertainment ~ Events
We take great pride in our education. Visitors and school children of all ages now learn about the interstate highway system which had its start with the building of the PA Turnpike. We recently opened a Restoration Learning Center from contributions from The Collector’s Foundation and Nicola Bulgari. This area shows the many processes involved to return a vehicle to its original state of grandeur. Children learn about photography, engines, chassis, documentation, cataloging and more which can affect personal attitudes such as initiative and self-esteem.
The matching $500,000 contribution is truly an opportunity for AOW to stand stronger until neighbors move in along the riverfront. This will be a one-time infusion of significant money that can be used to strengthen and grow our non-profit organization. We will remain a dynamic and ever changing institution…one you will want to visit again and again.
SAVE THE DATE: 6TH Annual Moonlight Memories Sherlock Homes Mystery Gala on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 6 to 10 PM Watch for details!!
The Lehigh Valley lost a dear friend in February. Marlene "Linny" Fowler, was a kind soul, who lived passionately and gave generously to people and organizations all throughout our region.
One of the definitions of an angel is a person having qualities generally attributed to an angel, as beauty, purity, or kindliness. Linny was certainly an America On Wheels Angel!!
Our community is a better place because Linny lived here, and we are forever grateful for her support of America On Wheels, her spirit and her impact live on in our hearts!
America On Wheels is a Trip Worth Taking...Once here, consider joining our ENGINE CLUB and Experience the Community through your numerous benefits as a Member, while continuing to visit the Museum on a regular basis. Membership Levels begin at $35; $50; $100; and $250.
