America On Wheels 2009 Calendar of Community Events

ALLENTOWN, PA (December 22, 2008) – America On Wheels has kick-started its engines and is headed into 2009 with a wide open throttle. The museum will be hosting monthly presentations on varying topics ranging from motoring music to unusual bicycles. "The museum is looking forward to further establishing its role as an educational institute by offering this series of presentations on various aspects of transportation history. Our hope is that these presentations will enhance the museum experience for our visitors who will also have the opportunity to enjoy our unique and interactive displays," says Linda Merkel, Executive Director of the museum. They will be held on the third Saturday of each month and are open to the public. The presentations are free for museum members. The cost for non-members is the admission price: Adults $7.00, Seniors $5.00, Students (6-12) $3.50, and Children under 5, Free.

March 21st - Member Open House at AOW. Refreshments and a Gallery Talk on "Legends of Speed". Members Only.
April 18th - Richard Miller, early British car enthusiast, presenting 'Post World War II Invasion of British Cars'
May 16th – Kevin Flemming from Integrity Personnel in Allentown, presenting , 'Employee Stress over Economy'
June 20th – R. Scott Unger, Executive Director, Allentown Economic Development Corp., presenting 'The Revitalization of Allentown'
July 18th – Bob Swaim, enthusiast and collector of unusual bicycles, will demonstrate some bikes from his collection
August 15th - Steve Schmidt, from The Coalition for Approved Transportation, presenting 'Bicycling for Transportation'
September 19th – Luis Acevedo, founder of New Image Auto Club Inc, presenting 'Tuner Cars'
October 17th – The Mock Turtle Marionette Theater will do a Halloween puppet show at AOW for all ages at AOW
